Clinical faculty who teach in the Medical Degree Undergraduate Program from all sites (IMP, NMP, SMP, and VFMP) are welcome to register.
Upcoming Sessions
The Teacher Certificate Program (TCP) is a series of online teacher development workshops provided as a collaboration between the regional Island, Northern, Southern, and Vancouver-Fraser Medical Programs.
TCP 2: Career Planning & Wellness is designed with attention to the career and personal growth of clinical faculty in the MDUP. Updated with new topics this year! This program is targeted to physician (clinical) faculty members doing their teaching alongside patient care. Each session is 1.5 hours and will accumulate toward a certificate of completion.
1. Promote Me, CV! Promotions for Clinical Faculty
- Discuss benefits of promotions for clinical faculty.
- Overview of clinical faculty promotions within the Faculty of Medicine.
- Review components of the UBC-format CV templates in Promotions.
- Discuss highlighting accomplishments within the CV and tips for a successful Promotions application.
2. Planetary Health in Practice
- Identify connections between planetary health and human health.
- Recognize our responsibility and capability to advocate for planetary health, especially through our teacher roles and as role models to students.
- Describe practical steps faculty can take as teachers and in the community.
3. Difficult Conversations: Navigating Through Conflicts
- Identify competencies for challenging professional interactions.
- Discuss effective approaches to engaging with faculty and learners in the presence of tension and/or discomfort.
- Practice the application of strategies to common scenarios experienced by teachers.
4. Indigenous Cultural Safety for Learners
- Recognize and value the uniqueness of Indigenous experiences with medical education and health care.
- Apply a strength-based approach to Indigenous Cultural Safety in learning contexts.
- Discuss their role in creating and maintaining a respectful and culturally safe environment for learners.
5. Revitalizing Medicine: A Values-Based Approach to Physician Wellness
- Examine the role of personal values in professional life.
- Develop a values-driven framework for decision-making.
- Implement strategies to maintain alignment between values and actions.
6. Upstander Engagement
- Understand what constitutes an inclusive learning and work environment.
- Describe the barriers to inclusion in our working and learning environment.
- Identify actions to promote inclusivity.
- Describe Upstander Engagement as a tool to support equity and inclusion.
- Transition knowledge from theory to practice.
